Clear form data from a question

Clear the data collected in a form one question at a time to reset the cleared question to a status of New.

Before you work with this feature, consider the following:

• Make sure you have the Edit Form Data for Subjects permission to clear a question.
• If the question you want to clear impacts other dynamically-displayed questions, you see a prompt to clear the data of those impacted questions first without having to manually remove those questions' answers.

Note:

If you need to clear data from all the questions in a flat form instead of clearing one question at a time, see Clear all form data.

To clear data from a question:

1. On the Home page, determine where to work. For more information, see Access study modes and pages.
2. Along the top, make sure Subjects is selected.
3. Filter your view based on several criteria. For more information, see Filter subjects in a study.
4. Locate the subject and select the visit whose questions you want to clear.
5. Locate the question that you want to clear and select the Menu icon () to the right of the field.

   Tip:

   Although you cannot clear the data of frozen questions, you can still remove the data by selecting the question and using the Delete or Backspace keys on your computer's keyboard.
6. Select Clear. This option clears the answer saved to the question and reverts the question's status to that of a newly introduced question that's never been answered before, in the context of that form.

   Note:

   For a question with radio buttons, a Reset option is also available. This option removes the radio button selection and keeps the question in the form. To understand the difference see About clearing or removing data.
7. From the Reason for Change drop-down, select the applicable reason for change, then select Submit.
8. Select Save & Close.
