Understand combination kit dosing

Combination kit dosing is helpful in ensuring subjects are dispensed the correct dosage.

What clinical supply managers must know

Before you begin your work with combination kit dosing, there are several particularities of this feature that you must consider to make sure you approach your task in the right way.

Consideration	Notes
Permissions	Before you can define combination kit dosing in your study, be sure you have the proper permissions. For more information, see Study Management permissions.
Study settings	The Automated Combination Kit Dosing option is available on the Supply Settings page when there is a combination dosing kit included in the study. When set to Yes, all kit dispensations that contain combination dosing kits are set to use the automated calculation. Note: This setting is set to Yes by default.
Kit types	You cannot combine serialized and non-serialized kits in a combination kit dose. If attempted, the system generates an error message and prompts you to choose the correct item types. Titration kits are not available for combination kit dosing. Kits used in a combination dose are cannot be added to the visit dispensation individually through titration, Advanced Dispensation, or single kit dispensation on the visit.
Combination kit dosing algorithm	The system looks to dispense selected kits by least quantity of kits to dispense. If more than one dispensation option have the same quantity of kits, then the system dispenses by the greatest dose. For example: The subject is assigned to receive a 50mg dose and there are four (4) kit types: 10mg 15mg 20mg 50mg The system looks to dispense one kit of 50mg. If this is not available, then the system would look to dispense one of the following: (Option1) 2 kits of 20mg and 1 kit of 10mg (Option 2) 1 kit of 20mg and 2 kits of 15mg The system would first attempt to dispense Option 1 because 2 kits of 20mg is greater than 2 kits of 15mg. If there are eventually no valid combination options for the system to consider, a dispensation failure message is generated.
Dispensation	Partial dispensation is not considered when dispensing a combination kit. Dispensation considers the dose value entered in the form question for combination kit dosing. Each kit type has its own dosing instructions. Note: Custom dosing instruction for Advanced Dispensation override these specific instructions. When a dose hold is removed from a subject, the subject's dispensation follows the priority of kit dispensation as defined in the Advanced Dispensation. Dispensing reusable kits is only available if the reusable kits requested are within the number of available kits left for reuse.
Resupply	Predictive resupply uses only the first dose, regardless of what is dispensed to the subject.
Kit replacement	When necessary, a kit is replaced with the same dose as the original. For example: Two (2) 10mg kits are selected for replacement. The system replaces them with 2 more 10mg kits. If this is not available, then the system looks to replace the 2 kits with two (2) 5mg kits for each one. You cannot replace serialized and non-serialized kits with locally sourced kits.
