Form Questions that are never promoted to Active/Approved Container
Once a Form/Question is promoted to ACTIVE in Clinical One, it can never be removed from a Clinical One Form Design. However, if the Form Question has never been promoted to ACTIVE, you can delete it.
Deleting a Form Question before it has been promoted to ACTIVE results in the following:
- The deleted Form items will be omitted from the subsequent Form Design Metadata datasets for the new Study Version(s) (e.g. FORM_ITEMS_MAP table).
- The now-deleted Columns will remain present in Clinical One Analytics in Test Container, with Data entered to date/going forward for the old Form version(s) retained.
- If/when the Form is promoted to ACTIVE, any Questions that have been deleted in earlier versions of the Form Design will not get created in the ACTIVE Datasets (neither Clinical Datasets nor Study Design).
As part of the fundamental design of Oracle DMW, Tables and Columns in the Oracle DMW QC Lifecycle (C1 TEST) must be identical to the Oracle DMW Production Lifecycle (ACTIVE). Therefore, if a Form/Question that hasn't been promoted to ACTIVE is deleted as part of a C1 TEST container study design change, in the Oracle DMW clinical table for that form the columns associated with the now-deleted Form Question will be removed in the Development/QC Lifecycles (even though they remain in Clinical One Datahub/Analytics).
This (expected) behavior means that when the Clinical One Form is promoted to ACTIVE and the associated promotion from the Oracle DMW QC Lifecycle to Production Lifecycle takes place, Oracle DMW performs a metadata difference comparison that compares the promoted Oracle DMW Production Lifecycle (originating from the Development-to-QC lifecyles, or C1 TEST data) to the Datahub ACTIVE Datasets to ensure that tables and columns are identical.
