About signal configurations

There are three types of signal configurations: scripted and multisource.

  • Scripted signal configurations require modifying most aspects of the signal configuration outside of the Oracle Empirica Signal application, based on your organization's requirements, and running command-line scripts to perform refreshes. Scripted signal configurations are available for other data sources, including proprietary databases.
  • Interactive signal configurations allow a user, with appropriate permissions, to create, validate, and refresh the configuration in the Oracle Empirica Signal application.

Interactive signal configurations are currently available for proprietary data maintained in Oracle Argus Mart and for various public safety data sources. See What is source data?.

  • Multisource signal configurations extend interactive signal configurations by combining the results of multiple safety datasets, both public and proprietary, into a single configuration. You can view data and results side-by-side on the Signal Review page. With the appropriate permissions, you can select the signal configurations you wish to combine, then create and manage the multisource configuration in the Oracle Empirica Signal application.

To set up the configurations, you must have the Manage Signal Configurations permission. See Edit a signal configuration.

Scripted signal configurations

Most aspects of scripted signal configuration are defined or modified outside of the Oracle Empirica Signal application based on your organization's requirements. You can modify some aspects of the signal configuration.

For example, you can:

Multisource signal configurations

You can create and modify multisource signal configurations in the Oracle Empirica Signal application. See Get started with multisource signal configurations.

For example, you can add and edit multisource configurations and specify the lead and secondary configurations.
