This chapter describes the feature enhancements in this release.

Noteworthy Enhancements

This guide outlines the information you need to know about new or improved functionality in the Oracle Retail Customer Engagement (ORCE) update and describes any tasks you might need to perform for the update. Each section includes a brief description of the feature, the steps you need to take to enable or begin using the feature, any tips or considerations that you should keep in mind, and the resources available to help you.

Column Definitions

  • Feature: Provides a description of the feature being delivered.

  • Module Impacted: Identifies the module associated with the feature, if any.

  • Scale: Identifies the size of the feature. Options are:

    • Small: These UI or process-based features are typically comprised of minor field, validation, or program changes. Therefore, the potential impact to users is minimal.

    • Large: These UI or process-based features have more complex designs. Therefore, the potential impact to users is higher.

  • Delivered: Is the new feature available for use immediately after upgrade or must the feature be enabled or configured? If no, the feature is non-disruptive to end users and action is required (detailed steps below) to make the feature ready to use.

  • Customer Action Required: You must take action before these features can be used. These features are delivered disabled and you choose if and when to enable them.

New Feature Descriptions

This section describes the new features.

Redwood Theme Uptake

The Oracle Retail Customer Engagement application has a new user interface and visual style based on the Redwood Design. The Redwood theme has new design colors, icons, and so on. This update aligns ORCE with the other omnichannel products to have a uniformed look and enhanced usability. The following are the Redwood theme attributes:

  • New color for the application header.

  • Updated icons for actions.

  • Colors for charts.

  • Additional messaging styles for various situations.

Oracle Retail Promotion Engine Enhancements

Two additional capabilities have been added to Oracle Retail Promotion Engine:

  • The ability for existing Customer Engagement customers to perform a load of merchandise bulk data from Customer Engagement into the Promotion Engine using a new job that can be scheduled and run.

  • The ability to pass location attributes with offers and promotions from Customer Engagement to the Promotion Engine.

Offer Definition Services

Two new Offer Definition services have been added for the Buy X Get X and Fixed Quantity Prices offer types.

Customer Enhancements

The ability to View Duplicate Customer Set has been added to the Customer Merge functionality in ORCE.

ORCE Feature Enhancements

ORCE now supports the Comments and Reason Code fields in the generateCard web service. Franchisee details have been added to the Activate Card Series Batch popup.

Campaign Enhancements

The ability to import using a .csv file has been added to the Includes and Excluded Items on the Award Tab for the Buy X Get Y offer type.
