Ad Hoc Blackout Window
There are two types of blackout windows: Ad Hoc Blackout Window and Batch Notification. The Ad Hoc Blackout Window is the blackout window that the administration user can schedule using the OAT Blackout Window Task. The Ad Hoc Blackout Window is set up with two time periods: the notification period and the blackout window period. During the notification period, the user will receive a notification message indicating when the blackout window will start and alerts the user to finish any work prior to that. If a workbook is already open, normal workbook operations are allowed, but the user cannot refresh the workbook or perform DPM operations, because such actions can trigger long-term processes that may impact the system. The user can still commit the workbook. The user can save and close the workbook. During the Notification Window, all scheduled jobs will be suspended. The only exception is another blackout window task (for example, if a user wants to end the blackout window task as the work is completed).
