Upgrade the Database to the Latest Patch Level

  • Oracle database base version 19c (19.x).

  • Apply the latest patch on the oracle database.

    Example: Database Release Update 19.12.0.0.210720 patch number 32904851.

Install Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure

Note: The infrastructure installation type is Fusion Middleware Infrastructure. 

  1. During the Oracle Data Integrator 12.2.1.4 installation, provide the same FMW Home path used as Oracle Home while installing Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure.

  2. Select Enterprise Installation on the Installation Type page. 

  3. Apply ODI Patch# 31510501

A successful Oracle Data Integrator installation involves installing or applying the following: 

  • JDK 1.8.0(291)
  • Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure 12.2.1.4
  • FMW Patch # 30657796
  • Oracle Data Integrator 12.2.1.4
  • ODI Patch # 31510501

Install Oracle Analytics Server 5.9

Install the OAS 5.9 under the same FMW Home that is used for Fusion Middleware Infrastructure and Oracle Data Integrator installations.

Upgrade ODI Repository

Upgrade the Existing Domains (ODI, Apex and OAS)

This section describes how to upgrade the existing domains. The steps below follow an in-place upgrade domain strategy. 

Note: Before starting the domain upgrade activity, make sure you have a proper backup plan in case of any failure.

ODI Domain In-Place Upgrade

For the ODI domain in-place upgrade, follow the steps on Upgrading Oracle Data Integrator.

Note: The ./ua -readiness may fail while running it, generating the following exception: Failed to establish a connection to data source WLSSchemaDataSource because of the error UPGAST-00214: Unable to connect to database as the schema user DEV_WLS_RUNTIME. To resolve this, it is necessary to follow the steps from MOS doc id: 2732931.1 as a solution and the file location is: <Domains Home>/<OD domain>/config/jdbc/WLSSchemaDataSource-jdbc.xml

Apex Domain In-Place Upgrade

For the Apex domain in-place upgrade, we can use the same steps from ODI domain in-place upgrade except Upgrading Product Schemas. Product schemas/RCU schema is not present in this Apex domain.
