Demand Heatmap

The Demand Heatmap displays a business customer's demand data in a color-coded grid, and indicates the level of energy demand during specific times, days, and weeks of the year.

Configuration Options

For each element listed in the table, indicate the desired configuration in the Input Value column. If you do not provide an input for optional configurations, the default will be used.

Heatmap Color Gradient

The color gradient of the heatmap can be changed. There are several options available.
  1. An automatic gradient based on a single primary color that is accessible to color-blind customers.
  2. An automatic gradient ranging from green colors (for low demand) to red colors (for high demand).

    Note:

This option relies on color alone and is not accessible for customers with color vision deficiencies.
  3. A manually-defined gradient of custom color stops. Each color stop represents a percentage-based range of a customer's total demand. For example, the first color stop could be a light color representing 0-20% of total demand. The second color stop could be slightly darker and represent 21-40% of total demand. Up to nine color stops can be specified.

Default: The default is a single primary color gradient that is accessible for color-blind customers.

Optional

Choose one of the following:

Use option 1: Default.

Use option 2: A gradient ranging from green to red colors.

Use option 3: Work with your Delivery Team to specify and configure up to nine color stops representing different ranges of demand.

Display of Operating Hours Insights

The Demand Heatmap can display filters that allow customers to distinguish between a business’s operating hours and non-operating hours. When enabled, customers who have provided operating hours in their Business Profile can filter the heatmap and review their operating-hours summary. Customers who have not provided operating hours see a banner directing them to Business Profile.

Default: Disabled.

Optional

Choose one of the following:

  • Use the default.
  • Enable operating-hours insights.

Display of Device (Meter) ID in Drop-Down Selector

The device ID (meter number) can be displayed instead of the service point ID in the drop-down selector menu of relevant widgets. Displaying the device ID can be a clearer way for customers to identify the energy use patterns associated with each of their meters.

Default: Disabled.

Optional

Choose one of the following:

  • Use the default.
  • Enable the display of the device (meter) ID.

User Experience Variations

The user experience of the feature may vary for customers and utilities depending upon their service types, available data, locale, and other factors.

AMI Data Unavailable

If the business customer does not have AMI data, then an error message displays stating that the information in the widget can only be displayed if the customer has smart meter data.

Heatmap Color Gradient

The Demand Heatmap gradient may use different colors to represent the demand data. The colors may range from green colors (for low demand) to red colors (for high demand), or custom colors that are specific to your utility.
