Understanding Home Page Configuration
Please refer to About Home Page in the Business User Guide for a conceptual overview of home page functionality.
Beyond entering Master Configuration settings for the home page, you might also consider the following:
Configure User Settings for the Home Page
Users can add or remove zones on the Home Page by navigating to Preferences and selecting the Portal Preferences tab. Here, under the various Home Page sections, you can select which default zones display, whether or not they are initially collapsed or expanded, and the order in which they appear. Depending on your business practices, you can choose to disable this ability for users by modifying their access to these settings by assigning a Template User for Portal Preferences to each User record. Refer to Understanding Portals and Zones, or the User - Portal Preferences section under User Preferences in the Oracle Utilities Application Framework documentation for more information on using portal preferences.
Configure Insights Zone
All insight types configured in your insight group will be displayed on your Home Page. Insights are automatically generated based on your associations. If your user ID is linked to one or more planners, or your employee record includes service areas, these will be used to tailor the insights you see.
Customize Your Insights Zone
You can personalize your insights to display the information most relevant to you.
To configure your insights:
- Click the Configure link on your Insights zone.
- Select which insight types you want displayed.
- Set or update your planners, backlog groups, and service areas as needed.
- Save your changes.
Your personal configuration will override the default settings, ensuring your insights display the most pertinent information for you.
Available Insight Types
For each insight, the View button navigates you to the relevant search page and displays all records that match the criteria for that insight. You can use the available filters on the search page to further refine your results.
Here are the available insight types.
| Insight Type | Description |
|---|---|
| Overdue Work Activities |
Displays the number of work activities that are overdue (where the required by date is in the past and status is Active, In Progress, Finished, Completion Error, Sent, or In Progress (External)). The list of statuses included in this insight may be overridden by updating the valid statuses parameter in the Overdue Work Activities insight type algorithm. |
| Overdue Compliance Work Activities |
Displays the number of compliance work activities that are overdue (where the compliance date is in the past and status is Active, In Progress, Finished, Completion Error, Sent, or In Progress (External)). The list of statuses included in this insight may be overridden by updating the valid statuses parameter in the Overdue Compliance Work Activities insight type algorithm. |
| New Work Requests Assigned |
Displays the number of work requests in Created, Pending Approval, or Approved status. The list of statuses included in this insight may be overridden by updating the valid statuses parameter in the New Work Requests Assigned insight type algorithm. |
| Approved Work Requests |
Displays the number of work requests that are in Approved status. The list of statuses included in this insight may be overridden by updating the valid statuses parameter in the Approved Work Requests insight type algorithm. |
| Approved Work Activities |

| Work Activities Ready for Scheduling |
Displays the number of work activities in the Ready for Scheduling phase or those with no scheduled labor requirements. The list of statuses included in this insight may be overridden by updating the valid statuses parameter in the Work Activities Ready for Scheduling insight type algorithm. The Ready for Scheduling phase itself may be configured using the specific phase parameter in the same algorithm. |
For more information, see Insight Types in the Oracle Utilities Application Framework documentation.
Insight Group Configuration
A single insight group for the entire organization is required for Home Page Insights. If an insight group is not configured, the Insights zone will not be displayed on the Home Page.
Set up an insight group as follows:
- Insight Class: Home Page Insights
- Valid Visual Structures: List Insight
- Related Insight Types: One or more insight types from the table above as appropriate. The order you select will determine how insights are presented on the Home Page.
For more information, see Insight Groups in the Oracle Utilities Application Framework documentation.
Add Zones to the Home Page
You may find that it is beneficial to include additional zones on the Main tab of the Home Page, such as a zone to show Saved Searches, Bookmarks, or Favorites. You may also want to add organizational information such as a company news zone or additional custom zones. You can configure the Home Page, or any portal, to display the zones that you choose by configuring zone settings as described under Understanding Portals and Zones in the Oracle Utilities Application Framework documentation.
