Note:

Backup and Restore from a Standby Database for Oracle Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer

Introduction

Users can now backup and restore from a standby database configured for Oracle Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer. Until now, customers could configure backups only on a primary database with Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (ZDLRA), Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Object Storage, or Network File System (NFS) as the backup destination using cloud automation. However, customers will now be able to configure backups on a standby database in addition to the primary database for these backup destination types via OCI Console/API/SDK and Terraform.

Objectives

Task 1: Enable Automatic Backups on a Standby Database

  1. Log in to the OCI Console, navigate to Oracle Database and click Oracle Exadata Database Service on Cloud@Customer.

  2. In the list of Exadata VM Clusters, click the name of the VM Cluster containing the standby database for which you want to configure automatic backups.

  3. In the Database Details page of the standby database, click Enable automatic backups to configure backups.
