Make sure the I/O from the process is drained as it's produced so we don't hang. It also allows the user to see the stdout as soon as it occurs.

ReaderThread

public ReaderThread(java.io.InputStream ins,
                    java.lang.StringBuilder buf)

Allow child process I/O to flow thru the pipeline setup by caller, either pass a StringBuilder to collect for later fetch, or null to cause immediate continuous standard output (ex: so interactive user sees it).

Parameters:

ins - stream to collect

buf - optional holder, null causes immediate System.out

Method Detail

drain

public void drain()

Drain all stream output from the process before trying to use the output. It's possible that the process thread ends before this thread completes flushing all the stream I/O. Therefore we include this method so the code that controls the process thread can forcibly drain the reader before trying to use the output. I saw this occur a few times while testing.
