Move or copy a metric from one chart to another

Before you begin

Display or create a custom view with more than one chart in it. For more information, see Work with views in the Monitoring Dashboard.

A metric can be moved or copied from one chart to another in the same view only if the target chart does not already contain the same metric. When you move or copy a metric to an empty area in the view, a new chart is created to contain the metric.

The Monitoring Dashboard supports the following ways for moving or copying a metric from a chart in the view:

Move or copy the metric to another chart using the metric legend menu:
1. Select the metric legend menu in the source chart.
2. Do one of the following, as appropriate:
  - To move the metric, select Move To, and choose the name of the chart to which you want to move the metric.
  - To copy the metric, select Copy To, and choose the name of the chart to which you want to copy the metric.
Move the metric by dragging it from the source chart:
1. In the source chart, select the legend corresponding to the metric you want to move.
2. If you are moving the metric to another chart, drag the metric to the target chart, and then release the mouse button.
  When dragging the metric to the target chart, a highlight around the chart drop target is shown when the cursor is correctly positioned.
3. If you are moving the metric to a new chart that you want to create, drag the metric to an empty location in the view, and release the mouse button.
