Create Event

The Create Event dialog enables you to create a calendar event. More

Element Description

Title

Enter an event title.

Location

Enter the location where the event will be held.

Calendar

(Available when calendar overlaying is enabled.) Select the calendar to which this event belongs, when multiple calendars are displayed in the instance. Events from each different calendar use a different color, if events are categorized, which is displayed next to the list.

Time

Select whether the event will span the course of an entire day or select the event start and end times:

  • All Day Event—Select to specify that the event occurs over the course of an entire day.

    When this option is selected, the time does not display in the Start Time and End Time fields or in the date picker.

  • Start Time—Enter a start date and time for the event or click the Select Date icon Select Date icon to open the date picker.

    The time does not display for all day events.

  • End Time—Enter an end date and time for the event or click the Select Date icon Select Date icon to open the date picker.

    The time does not display for all day events.

Options

Select from the available options and enter a description of the event, if necessary:

Priority

Select a priority level for the event:

  • Highest

  • High

  • Normal

  • Low

  • Lowest

The priority of an event determines where it appears when events conflict. An event set to Highest priority is displayed first.

Category

Select a category to assign to the event. Categories are available if the portal manager or application specialist created event categories. More

Categories are useful for creating distinct groups of events, organized according to their general purpose. Categories are created by the portal manager or application specialist.

Note: This list is available only when creating portal events.

Details

Optionally, enter any additional details about the event, up to 4000 characters.

For example, you could use this field to provide agenda information for an event, provide an event mission statement, introduce the event keynote speaker, and so on.

Private

Select to hide the event from other users.

Note: This check box is available when creating personal events.
