Create Graph

Use the Create Graph dialog to visualize data from a data control as a graph.

The Create Graph dialog is arranged in the following tabs:

Type

The Type tab of the Create Graph dialog enables you to select the type of graph to use to visualize your data.

Select the type of Graph	Select: Area to create an area graph in which data is represented as lines with the area underneath them filled in. Bar to create a bar graph in which data is represented as a series of bars. Line to create a line graph in which data is represented as lines. Pie to create a pie graph in which each group of data is represented as a section of a circle, making the circle look like a sliced pie.

Select:

Area to create an area graph in which data is represented as lines with the area underneath them filled in.
Bar to create a bar graph in which data is represented as a series of bars.

Sub-Type

The Sub-Type tab of the Create Graph dialog enables you to select a sub-type of the selected graph type.

Element	Description
Select the graph sub-type	Select a sub-type for the graph type that you selected. The visual representation of each sub-type gives an idea of how the graph will appear on the page.

Layout

The Layout tab of the Create Graph dialog enables you to specify the layout of the different elements of the graph.

Element	Description
Select the layout of the graph	Select a layout to determine where to position the graph title, subtitle, legend area, footnote, and the pie frame on the graph.

Placement

The Placement tab of the Create Graph dialog enables you how to display data within the graph.

Element	Description
Items	Lists the items available in the data source.
Placement	Select whether and how to depict each item in the graph. The options in the Placement dropdown list vary depending on the graph type, for example, a bar graph supports Bars and X Axis, while a pie graph supports Pies and Slices.

Format

The Format tab of the Create Graph dialog enables you to specify the titles and labels used in the graph.

Element	Description
Format the titles and labels of the graph	Select an area of the graph for which you want to specify the title or label: Title, Subtitle, Footnote, X Axis, Y Axis, or Legend.
Title text	Enter text to use for the selected title or label.

Visualization Parameter

The Visualization Parameter tab of the Create Graph dialog lists the parameters defined by the data control. You can include data control parameters in a parameter form above the graph to enable users to control the data displayed. You can specify parameter values to determine the initial data displayed. This step is optional. If you do not expose a parameter form, the graph displays data pertaining to the values specified when the data control was created.

Element	Description
Parameter	Lists the parameters defined by the data control. Select the checkbox next to the parameter name to display the parameter in a parameter form above the graph so that users can control the data displayed in the graph.
Default Value	Enter a value for the parameter. This value determines the initial data displayed in the graph.
Submit Button Label	Enter the text to display on the button that end users click to submit values on the parameter form.
