People Connections Preferences

Use the People Connections preferences page to set your personal preferences for People Connections features.

Configuration settings for People Connections start with application-wide settings. Setting default values on the Preferences page affects just your view of People Connections features. There are a few other levels at which these values are set, and these setting levels are subject to an order of precedence:

Administrative settings affect all users' views of People Connections features.
Preferences settings affect the view of the user who set them, and they override administrative settings.
Settings on a particular task flow affect just that task flow instance, and they override Preference settings:
- Values set in page edit mode (application customization) affect all users' views of that task flow instance.
- Values set in page view mode (user customization) affect only that user's view of that task flow instance, and they override application-level customizations.

Use People Connections Preferences to specify your preferences for the following features:

Activity Stream

The Activity Stream tab is for setting up your view of the Activity Stream and selecting who can view your activities. More

Element	Description
People	Select whose activities are streamed in your view of the Activity Stream: Only Me—Stream only my activities. Me and My Connections—Stream activities only from me and my connections. No Personal—Omit all activities from the Home Portal. Selected Connection Lists—Stream only those activities coming from the selected connections lists. If you select this option, a list of all available connections appears. Select the connections whose activities you want to see.
Portals	Select whether to include streamed activities from portals other than the Home Portal: All Portals—Stream activities from all available portals. My Portals—Stream activities from the portals of which you are a member. No Portals—Do not stream any activities from portals other the Home Portal.
Tools and Service Categories	Select a service check box to stream its activities in your view of the Activity Stream. Only those activities performed by the people selected under the People option are streamed for the selected service. The activities of unselected services are still tracked, but they do not appear in the Activity Stream. If you select to show the any unselected service activities at some later point, all of the activities that occurred when the service was not selected now appear in the Activity Stream.
Privacy	Select who can view your activities in their Activity Streams: Allow All My Activities To Be Viewed By Everyone—Any user, whether logged in or not, can view your activities. Authenticated Users—Users who have logged in can view your activities. My Connections—Only your connections can view your activities. Myself—Only you can view your activities.

Connections

The Connections tab provides controls for specifying who can view your connection information and whether to accept connection invitations automatically. More

Grant View Access to	Select the default class of users to grant view access to your connections: Everyone—All users, including users who are not logged in, can view your connections. Authenticated Users—Only users who are logged in can view your connections. User's Connections—Only users you have accepted as your Connections can view your connections. User Only—Only you can view your connections.
Accept Invitations Automatically	Select to accept all connection invitations automatically, or clear to require that you explicitly accept a connection invitation.

Accept Invitations Automatically

Select to accept all connection invitations automatically, or clear to require that you explicitly accept a connection invitation.

Profile

The Profile tab is for setting up who can view the different sections of your profile. More

Tip:

The WebCenter Portal identity store provides most personal profile data. Conversely, the profile photo, status message, and expertise description are stored in the WebCenter schema.

Summary	Your administrator sets the access value for the Summary section. You cannot override it.
Employee	Select which class of users can view the Employee section of your profile: Everyone—All users, including users who are not logged in Authenticated Users—Only users who are logged in User's Connections—Only users you have accepted as your Connections User Only—Only you
Business Contact	Select who can view the Business Contact section of your profile: Everyone—All users, including users who are not logged in Authenticated Users—Only users who are logged in User's Connections—Only users you have accepted as your Connections User Only—Only you
Personal Information	Select who can view the Personal Information section of your profile: Everyone—All users, including users who are not logged in Authenticated Users—Only users who are logged in User's Connections—Only users you have accepted as your Connections User Only—Only you

Message Board

The Message Board tab is for setting up who can view and post to your Message Board. More

The Feedback tab is for setting up who can view and post feedback about you. More
