How to Configure PTP (Oracle Solaris PTP)

Use the following procedure to configure PTP, if Oracle Solaris PTP software is being used.

Note:

If PTP Hardware assistance is enabled, the following restrictions will apply to the configuration:
  • Vnics can not be configured over the data links assigned to the PTP service.

  • Data link assigned to PTP service cannot be used by the Oracle Solaris Cluster public network to configure Logical Hostname resource as it requires IPMP group configured over the data link.

  • Network adapter used by Solaris PTP can not be used by Solaris Cluster for hosting Logical Hostname or Shared Address resources.

  1. Assume the root role on a cluster node.
  2. On each node of the cluster, disable the NTP SMF service.
    phys-schost# svcadm disable ntp
  3. On each node of the cluster, configure and enable the PTP SMF service.
