10 Documentation Issues

This section describes known documentation issues for Oracle Server X8-2.

Updates for Oracle Server X8-2 Product Notes

In the Oracle Server X8-2 Product Notes (E93383-05) that was published on the Oracle Documentation web site, the document provided incorrect information in the following section: Do Not Mix Single-Rank and Dual-Rank DIMMs

This correction has been made in subsequent releases of the Oracle Server X8-2 Product Notes (E93383-06 and later).

Windows Server 2019 is not supported in Oracle Server X8-2 Software Release 1.1.1.

Updates for Oracle Server X8-2 Service Manual and Oracle Exadata Storage Server X8-2 EF, HC, and XT Service Manual

Oracle Exadata Storage Server X8-2 EF, HC, and XT Service Manual

Bug ID 32927658 - Memory population rule incorrectly mentioned

In the Oracle Exadata Storage Server X8-2 EF, HC, and XT Service Manual (E93395-06) that was published on the Oracle Documentation web site, the document provides incorrect information in the DIMM Population Rules section.

"If your memory configuration supports DCPMM DIMMs and DDR4 DIMMs, populate each processor socket with six 128 GB DCPMM DIMMs and six 16 GB DDR4 DIMMs. Populate DCPMM DIMMs in each black DIMM slot (channel slot 0) and populate DDR4 DIMMs in each white DIMM slot (channel slot 1)."

The correct information is as follows:

Populate DCPMM DIMMs in each White DIMM slot (channel slot 1) and populate DDR4 DIMMs in each black DIMM slot (channel slot 0).

Oracle Server X8-2 Service Manual

In the Oracle Server X8-2 Service Manual (E93386-03) that was published on the Oracle Documentation web site, the document provided incomplete information in the DIMM Population Rules section.

The first two bullets in the population guidelines are added with the following corrected content:

DIMM Population Rules

  • The server supports 64-GB quad-rank (QR) Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs), 32-GB dual-rank (DR) Registered DIMMs (RDIMMs), and 16-GB DR/SR RDIMMs.

  • Mixing 32-GB dual-rank DR 2Rx4 RDIMMs and 16-GB single-rank 1Rx4 SR RDIMMs in a server where the system is configured with a mix of both on every channel is supported.

  • Randomly mixing 32-GB dual-rank DR RDIMMs and 16-GB single-rank SR RDIMMs on channels can result in very low memory performance and is not supported.

This correction has been made in subsequent releases of the Oracle Server X8-2 Service Manual (E93386-04 and later).
