DIMM Population Rules

The population rules for adding DIMMs to the server are as follows:

  • The server supports a fixed configuration of forty-eight 64 GB (3 TB) quad-rank (QR) Load-Reduced DIMMs (LRDIMMs). Do not attempt to install any other DIMM sizes or DIMM types in the server unless you are upgrading the memory to 6 TB with an optional Exadata memory expansion kit.

  • All CMODs in a server should be populated identically.

    • If your server is configured with forty-eight memory DIMMs (3 TB), only black DIMM slots are populated with memory DIMMs.

    • If your server is configured with ninety-six memory DIMMs (6 TB), all black DIMM slots and white DIMM slots are populated with memory DIMMs.
