Unpack the Server

This procedure requires a mechanical lift.

Caution:

Equipment damage or personal injury. The server is heavy. Do not attempt to install the server without a mechanical lift.

Use these instructions to remove the server from its container and inventory the contents.

  1. Inspect the shipping cartons for evidence of physical damage.

    If a shipping carton appears damaged, request that the carrier agent be present when the carton is opened. Keep all contents and packing material for the agent inspection.

    The following figure shows the contents of the shipping container.

  2. Open the top of the box.
    1. Cut the straps.
    2. Cut or remove the tape.
    3. Open the flaps.
  3. Remove the tray and set it aside.
  4. Lift the box up and away from the server.
  5. Remove the foam inserts.
    1. Fold the corrugated flap down to release the front foam insert.
    2. Remove the front and back inserts.
  6. Unwrap the antistatic wrapper from the server.
  7. To remove the server from the pallet, insert the blades of the lift in the gap between the server and the pallet.
