Processor fails BIOS built-in self-test

Bug ID 21865183

Issue: The Oracle ILOM fault manager has applied diagnosis to error reports indicating a processor has failed the BIOS built-in self-test (fault.cpu.intel.bist-failure). This will result in the "MRC failure" fault to get diagnosed, but this is really a processor fault that BIOS is sending as an MRC warning. The fault causes the boot process to be aborted by platform services. The chassis wide and processor Service Required LEDs will be illuminated. BIOS will hang and the host operating system will not be allowed to proceed with boot.

Affected hardware: Oracle Server X5-2L and other Oracle x64 server platforms

Workaround: Authorized Oracle Service personnel should replace the faulty processor. If the problem persists, contact Oracle Support Services for further assistance.
