Configure the Primary Site

This article provides prerequisite configuration for the primary (on-premises) site.

Configure the Network and Connectivity

When configuring the network and connectivity, consider the following prerequisites:

  • The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure tenancy is connected to your on-premises data center through either FastConnect or IPSec VPN. The type of connectivity depends on your Recovery Point Objective (RPO) requirement. We recommend using FastConnect for better performance and RPO.
  • Ensure that the required routes are advertised between Oracle Cloud VMware Solution and the on-premises data center.
  • Update the security list for communication from the on-premises data center to Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. See the SRM network port requirements.
  • Allow firewall rules in the on-premises network perimeter to accept communication from Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. See the SRM network port requirements.
  • Allow firewall rules and update security lists according to the vSphere Replication network port requirements.  Calculate the vSphere replication bandwidth requirement to analyze the link-speed requirement.
  • Run all supported product versions by validating the VMware compatibility matrix with the Oracle Cloud VMware Solution SDDC.

Obtain Access and Management Permissions

Ensure that required permissions are available to perform SRM operations on-premises and in Oracle Cloud VMware Solution. The default vCenter administrator can perform the SRM operations.
