This section discusses disaster scenarios.

Database becomes corrupted

  1. As user acsss, stop ACSLS before running the recovery
    $ acsss db 
    $ rdb.acsss
  2. Select option 2. Refer to rdb.acsss.
  3. When recovery is complete, start ACSLS: acsss enable.

Ran acsss_config against the wrong library

  1. Select option 2. See rdb.acsss.
  2. Start ACSLS and test according to database backup and restore procedures.

Server failure – rebuilding the same server with new hardware

  1. Install the operating system.
  2. Configure the new server and OS with the settings from the previous server.
  3. Install ACSLS.
  4. Insert the backup tape or FTP backup file onto the server.
  5. Start the rdb.acsss utility.
  6. Select option 2. Refer to rdb.acsss.
  7. Exit rdb.acsss.
  8. Start ACSLS and test according to database backup and restore procedures.

Server failure – rebuilding another ACSLS server with new hardware

  1. Install the operating system.
  2. Install ACSLS.
  3. Place the ACSLS server-to-server backup files in the proper location.
  4. Enter rdb.acsss. Refer to rdb.acsss.
  5. Select option 3.
  6. When the recovery utility completes, start ACSLS and test according to database backup and restore procedures.
