Manually Cancel a Validation in Progress

Cancel an in-progress validation to return the tape to its original slot.

The library will automatically cancel a validation if a host requests the use of a tape currently being validated. Use this procedure if you need to manually cancel a validation.

Note:

An attempt to cancel media validation while an uninitialized LTO9 tape is in the “Calibrating” state will fail with “Drive is busy calibrating”. See Library Support of LTO9 Tape Calibration.
If the drive is currently reserved by a remote client (such as STA), canceling the media validation does not clear the reservation. The drive will remain available for use by the remote client. To manually clear the reservation, see Clear a Media Validation Drive Reservation.
  1. From the Library page or Tapes table, right-click a tape currently being validated.
  2. Select Cancel Media Validation.
If the option is not listed, the validation is not running or is not in a state that can be canceled (such as unloading).
