This deferred update enhances storage efficiency of encrypted data and also enables replication to transform data from unencrypted to encrypted form. Until the deferred update is also accepted on the replication target, existing replication relations that include encrypted data will fail after the deferred update is accepted on the replication source. The deferred update should be accepted after careful consideration of all existing replication relations that include encrypted data. When possible, the deferred update should be accepted on replication targets first.
