Chapter 11 Additional Software for Oracle VM

Additional software for Oracle VM includes tools and plugins to help you configure and integrate your environment.

11.1 Oracle VM Paravirtual Drivers for Microsoft Windows

The Oracle VM Paravirtual Drivers for Microsoft Windows improve performance for network and block (disk) devices on Microsoft Windows™ guests running in a virtual environment on Oracle VM.

For more information, see the Oracle VM Paravirtual Drivers for Microsoft Windows documentation at: http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E88077_01/index.html

11.2 Oracle VM Storage Connect plug-ins

Release 3.4 provides full support for the Oracle VM Storage Connect plug-ins that were added in Oracle VM Release 3.1. Support for iSCSI multipath, which was added in Oracle VM Release 3.2.1, is also fully supported in this release.

For more information, see Installing Oracle VM Storage Connect plug-ins in the Oracle VM Administrator's Guide.

11.3 Oracle VM Guest Additions

The Oracle VM Guest Additions are a set of packages that you install on virtual machines in an Oracle VM environment. The Oracle VM Guest Additions let you communicate with virtual machines from Oracle VM Manager and provide an easy method to configure virtual machines.

To find more information about the Oracle VM Guest Additions, see:

11.4 Oracle VM Utilities

The Oracle VM Utilities are a collection of command line scripts that allow you to perform basic management tasks in an Oracle VM environment. Release 3.4 works with the Oracle VM Utilities version 2.1.

To find more information about the Oracle VM Utilities, see:

11.5 Oracle Enterprise Manager

Oracle Enterprise Manager Release 13.2 or later is required to manage Oracle VM Release 3.4.x. Oracle VM Manager integrates with Oracle Enterprise Manager so that you can manage the entire Oracle VM environment from within Oracle Enterprise Manager.

For more information about Oracle Enterprise Manager Release 13.2 or later, see the Oracle Enterprise Manager documentation at: http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/oem/grid-control/documentation/oem-091904.html

For example, for specific information on how to register Oracle VM Manager when setting up Cloud for Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), refer to the following section in the Enterprise Manager Release 13.2 Cloud Administration Guide: https://docs.oracle.com/cd/E73210_01/EMCLO/GUID-152C4D4A-6FC2-42B0-ABE3-5884D6A466F4.htm#EMCLO183
