Adding or deleting a designated medical event

For interactive signal configurations, you can maintain a list of designated medical events (DMEs). A DME is an adverse event that your organization wants to monitor closely. DMEs are not associated with particular drugs.

Before you begin, consider the following:

For example, if the Event Variable for 2D Runs is (Event) PT, you define DMEs using preferred terms.

1.         Click the Signals tab.

2.         Click Drug Overviews.

3.         Click Manage Signaling Terms, and select Manage Designated Medical Events.

4.         To add DMEs:

A.        Specify the DMEs using one of the following methods:

Note: To prevent spelling and capitalization errors, Oracle recommends that you select rather than type values.

B.        Optionally select the Validate list when saving check box.

If you select the check box, Empirica Signal checks whether the terms that you specified are in the source data. If the terms are not in the source data, an error message appears and the invalid terms are moved to the end of the list.

C.        Click Save.

The DMEs are saved and are applied when you refresh the signal configuration.

In the Drug-Event Combinations page, the DME column identifies drug-event combinations that are associated with a DME.

5.         To delete a DME:

A.        Remove the DME from the DME list.

B.        Click Save.

Your change is saved and is applied when you refresh the signal configuration.
