Package oracle.hsgbu.ets.fdb Description

Contains classes pertaining to First DataBank (FDB). FDB is a vendor of drug terminology and knowledge. Portions of their National Drug Data File Plus (NDDF Plus) are supported in ETS. NDDF Plus consists of data tables that may be used for detecting drug-drug interactions and drug-allergy indications, for medication ordering application, and so on. ETS supports the drug identifier codes used in the NDDF Plus tables.

ETS stores and maintains the following three categories of the First DataBank knowledge:

1. Medication concepts
   • US National Drug Codes
   • First DataBank Medication Name Concepts and their associated Routes and Dosage Forms

2. Therapeutic classifications of the medications
   • Enhanced Therapeutic Classifications (ETCs)
   • American Hospital Formulary Service (AHFS) classifications

3. FDB Allergy Concepts
   FDB provides concepts that may be used in documenting allergies where the allergen is a drug or drug ingredient. FDB suggests that three types of concepts be made available for this purpose:
   • Unique brand names
   • Hierarchical Ingredient Code Descriptions
   • Specific Allergen Group Descriptions
