Enabling or Disabling Database Management

Enable Database Management to monitor DB systems and obtain meaningful insights from metrics, and use Performance Hub to quickly diagnose performance issues.

Note

You cannot enable database management on an Always Free DB system.

Using the Console

Use the Console to enable or disable Database Management on a DB system. By default, Database Management is enabled.

This task requires the following:
Do the following to enable or disable Database Management on a DB system:
  1. On the DB systems list page, select the DB system that you want to work with. If you need help finding the list page or the DB system, see Listing DB Systems - Using the Console.

    The details page opens and displays information about the DB system.

  2. Select the Tools tab.
  3. To disable Database Management on the DB system if it is currently enabled, do the following:
    1. Find the Database Management field under Database Management, select Disable
    2. In the Disable Database Management dialog box, select Disable.
      The DB system enters the Updating state and Database Management is disabled.
  4. To enable Database Management on the DB system if it is currently disabled, do the following:
    1. Find the Database Management field under Database Management, select Enable
    2. In the Enable Database Management dialog box, select Enable.
      The DB system enters the Updating state and Database Management is enabled. Once Database Management is enabled, you can monitor your HeatWave fleet or a single DB system, and use Performance Hub to monitor and troubleshoot SQL performance.
