This document provides information to help you install and configure Oracle Event Processing.

This guide explains how to install a new Oracle Event Processing 12c (12.1.3) Oracle home.
After you use the procedures in this guide to install Oracle Event Processing, you can configure a standalone Oracle Event Processing domain. Note that an Oracle Event Processing standalone-server domain does not require Oracle WebLogic Server. For more information, see "Standalone-Server Domains" in Administering Oracle Event Processing.
If you are using a previous version of Oracle Event Processing, note there is no upgrade to the Oracle Event Processing 12c (12.1.3) runtime software. If you created an Oracle Event Processing 11g standalone-server domain, then you must install a new Oracle Event Processing 12c (12.1.3) Oracle home and configure a new Oracle Event Processing 12c standalone-server domain.
Oracle Event Processing 11g design time software was available only as an Eclipse plugin. For Oracle Event Processing 12c (12.1.3), you can now use Oracle JDeveloper 12c (12.1.3) to develop your Oracle Event Processing applications. Table 1 contains important information that you must read and understand prior to beginning the installation and configuration process. It identifies important tasks and checks to perform to make sure your environment is properly prepared for installing and configuring Oracle Event Processing.

The distributions for Oracle Event Processing is available on Oracle Technology Network.
To obtain Oracle Event Processing:
Go to Oracle Technology Network.
Find fmw_12.1.3.0.0_oep_Disk1_1of1.zip and download this file onto your system.
Extract the contents of this .zip file onto your system. One of the files extracted will be fmw_12.1.3.0.0_oep.jar; this file will be used to run the product installer and install the software onto your system (Section 4).
This section describes how to install the Oracle Event Processing software and create the Oracle home directory.

To start the installation program, perform the following steps.
Log in to the target system.
Go to the directory where you downloaded the installation program.
Launch the installation program by invoking the java executable from the JDK directory on your system, as shown in the examples below.
On UNIX operating systems:
/home/Oracle/jdk7_15/jdk1.7.0_15/bin/java -jar fmw_12.1.3.0.0_oep.jar
On Windows operating systems, you can launch the installation program with ~\javaw.exe. Alternatively, you can search for cmd.exe in the Start menu, right-click it, and select to Run as administrator. Then you can use the following command in the command prompt:
C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_15\bin\java -jar fmw_12.1.3.0.0_oep.jar
Be sure to replace JDK location in these examples with the actual JDK location on your system.
When the installation program appears, you are ready to begin the installation. See Section 4.2 for a description of each installation program screen.
Note:
You can also launch the installer in silent mode to ensure that no configuration options are displayed during the installation process. For more information about silent or command line installation, see "Using the Oracle Universal Installer in Silent Mode" in Installing Software with the Oracle Universal Installer.
The installation program displays a series of screens, in the order listed in Table 2.

On UNIX operating systems, this screen will appear if this is the first time you are installing any Oracle product on this host. Specify the location where you want to create your central inventory. Make sure that the operating system group name selected on this screen has write permissions to the central inventory location. This screen will not appear on Windows operating systems. |

This screen introduces you to the product installer. |

Use this screen to specify the location of your Oracle home directory. Oracle Event Processing is designed as a standalone product, so you cannot install Oracle Event Processing into an existing Oracle home. You must create a new Oracle home. For more information about Oracle Fusion Middleware directory structure, see "Selecting Directories for Installation and Configuration" in Planning an Installation of Oracle Fusion Middleware. |

This screen gives you two options: Event Processing or Event Processing With Examples. Toggle the option you prefer and review the items that will be installed in the list below the installation types. |

This screen verifies that your system meets the minimum necessary requirements. If there are any warning or error messages, you can refer to one of the documents described in Section 2. |

Use this screen to verify the installation options you selected. If you want to save these options to a response file, click Save Response File and provide the location and name of the response file. Response files can be used later in a silent installation situation. For more information about silent or command line installation, see "Using the Oracle Universal Installer in Silent Mode" in Installing Software with the Oracle Universal Installer. Click Install to begin the installation. |

This screen allows you to see the progress of the installation. When the progress bar reaches 100% complete, you can click Finish to dismiss the installer, or click Next to see a summary. |

Review the information on this screen, then click Finish to dismiss the installer. |
After you complete the installation, you can verify it by successfully completing the following tasks:
Review the contents of the installation log files to make sure that no problems were encountered. For a description of the log files and where to find them, see "Understanding Installation Log Files" in Installing Software with the Oracle Universal Installer.
The contents of your installation vary based on the options you selected during the installation.
For more information about the directory structure you should see after installation, see "What are the Key Oracle Fusion Middleware Directories?" in Understanding Oracle Fusion Middleware. An Oracle Event Processing installation will contain an oep folder under ORACLE_HOME.
Note:
In Windows, you may see a Start Menu shortcut for a folder called WebLogic Server 12c(12.1.3) under OracleHome. This shortcut is a bug and its contents will not work.
You can also view the contents of the Oracle home using the viewInventory script. For more information, see "Viewing the Contents of an Oracle Home" in Installing Software with the Oracle Universal Installer.
An Oracle Event Processing installation does not include Oracle Fusion Middleware Infrastructure, so only standalone-server domains may be created for Oracle Event Processing. You can learn more about standalone-server domains by reading "Standalone-Server Domains" in Administering Oracle Event Processing.
For instructions on configuring a standalone domain, see "Create a Standalone-Server Domain" in Administering Oracle Event Processing. This document also contains other administrative tasks for Oracle Event Processing, including updating a domain and starting and stopping the servers in the domain.
This section describes how to deinstall the Oracle Event Processing software and delete the Oracle home directory.
To start the deinstaller on a Windows operating system, do one of the following:
Use a file manager window to go to the ORACLE_HOME\oui\bin directory and double click on deinstall.cmd.
From the command line, go to the ORACLE_HOME\oui\bin and enter the following command:
deinstall.cmd
From the Start menu, select All Programs, then select Oracle, then select OracleHome, then select Uninstall Oracle Middleware.
To start the deinstaller on a UNIX operating system, go to the ORACLE_HOME/oui/bin directory and enter the following command:
./deinstall.sh
The deinstallation program displays a series of screens, in the order listed in Table 3.

After the deinstaller is finished, you must manually remove your Oracle home directory and any existing sub-directories that were not removed by the deinstaller. For example, if your Oracle home directory was /home/Oracle/product/Oracle_Home on a UNIX operating system:
> cd /home/Oracle/product > rm -rf Oracle_Home
On a Windows operating system, if your Oracle home directory was C:\Oracle\Product\Oracle_Home, use a file manager window and navigate to the C:\Oracle\Product directory, then right-click on the Oracle_Home folder and select Delete.
On Windows operating systems, you must also manually remove the program shortcuts; the deinstaller does not remove them for you.
Go to the C:\Program Data\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Oracle\Oracle Home\Product directory. If you only have one product installed in your Oracle home, you can remove the Oracle Home directory. If you have multiple products installed in your Oracle home, you must remove all products before removing the Oracle Home.
