Create a fair share constraint

Before you begin

Create a Resource Consumption Manager

A fair share constraint policy allows you to allocate a share (a percentage of the available resource) based on a representative load for each partition in the domain. See Configuring Resource Consumption Management.

To create a fair share constraint:

  1. If you have not already done so, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Lock & Edit (see Use the Change Center).
  2. In the Domain Structure tree, expand Environment, then select Resource Management.
  3. On the Summary of Resource Managers page, select the resource manager for which you want to create a new fair share constraint.
  4. On the Policies page, click New on the Fairshare Constraints table.
  5. Select the resource type for which you want to create a fair share constraint.
  6. Click Next.
  7. On the Fairshare Constraint Properties page, enter the properties for your new fair share constraint policy.

Resource Name - Enter a name to identify this resource.

Fairshare Name - Enter a name to identify this fair share constraint.

Value - The amount allocated (a percentage of the available resource) for a fair share constraint.

  8. Click Finish.
  9. To activate these changes, in the Change Center of the Administration Console, click Activate Changes.
Not all changes take effect immediately—some require a restart (see Use the Change Center).
