How to Set Up an NTP Client

  1. Become an administrator.

    For more information, see Using Your Assigned Administrative Rights in Securing Users and Processes in Oracle Solaris 11.2 .

  2. Create the ntp.conf file.

    To activate the ntpd daemon, the ntp.conf file must first be created.

    # cd /etc/inet
    # cp ntp.client ntp.conf
  3. Edit the ntp.conf file.

    Make site specific changes to this file as needed.

  4. Start the ntpd daemon.
    # svcadm enable ntp
