Assigning a Compensation Plan
For Oracle Sales Compensation to calculate compensation for a salesperson, you need to assign a compensation plan to the representative.
To assign a compensation plan:
1. Open the Salespeople window.
By default, choose Salespeople Workbench from the Salespeople menu.
2. Select the salesperson to whom you want to assign a compensation plan.
You can run a query to locate the salesperson.
3. Choose Plan Assignments.
The Plan Assignments window opens.
4. In the Compensation Plan region, select the compensation plan you want to assign from a list of values, or enter the name directly if you know it.
All compensation plans you have created appear in this list of values, whether or not their status is Complete.
5. In the Assignment Periods region, choose the periods during which the plan will be effective for this salesperson.
Choose the From and To assignment periods from a list of values. This list of values displays only those periods for which the plan is effective. For example, if the plan is effective from JAN-95 to DEC-95, the From and To period values must fall within this range.
The plan assignment becomes effective on the start date of the From period and becomes ineffective at the end of the day on the date of the To period.
If you do not check the Custom check box, then the salesperson's plan is not customizable to allow for changes in the rate table, targets, and payment and draw amounts. Since salespeople are often at different levels of quotas and rates, it is a good idea to check this check box to allow flexibility in compensation plans.
Quotas, draws, payment targets, and rates for individual sales will not be affected if the Custom check box is checked.
The Plan Assignments form displays the plan elements assigned to this salesperson.
