Implementing Test and Control Groups for Treatments

Test and control groups allow you to isolate variables in the effectiveness of a treatment. The test group contains treatment recipients who are tested for a particular factor. The control group does not receive this factor, and is therefore separated for purposes of comparison.

The following procedure shows how to implement test and control groups for a treatment.

To implement test and control groups for a treatment

  1. In Siebel Tools, add an LOV value to the treatment to identify it as Control or Test.
  2. Add a filter to all export list formats that excludes any customer rows that receive control treatments. You might have to extend the list export business model to join to the treatment type (for example, S_CAMP_CON to S_DMND_CRT_PRG).
  3. Add a search specification to any Call Center screens, so that outbound telemarketing calls do not show any recipients of the control treatment.
  4. Associate both test and control treatments with the campaign.
  5. Use a segment tree to split the test and control groups. Allocate the tree branches to the test and control treatments.
  6. Load the campaign, including both test and control segments.
