Roadmap for Installing and Configuring Siebel Business Applications Without an Existing Database
Figure 2 presents a simplified view of the installation and configuration tasks when there is no existing Siebel database, as in a new deployment. A Siebel database must exist before you can configure the Siebel Server, in order to provide authentication for access to the Siebel Gateway Name Server. You install Database Configuration Utilities and the first Siebel Server on the same computer where you installed Siebel Gateway Name Server.

The installation process requires multiple tasks that you perform in the following general sequence:
- Install the servers in the following sequence:
- Siebel Gateway Name Server
- Siebel Server
- Database Configuration Utilities (with the first Siebel Server)
See Installing Siebel Enterprise Server Components and the Siebel Web Server Extension.
- Configure the Siebel Enterprise in the following sequence:
- Siebel Gateway Name Server
- Siebel Enterprise on the Siebel Gateway Name Server computer
See Configuring Siebel Enterprise Server Components and the Siebel Web Server Extension.
- Configure the RDBMS.
See Configuring the RDBMS.
- Install the Siebel database.
See Installing the Siebel Database on the RDBMS.
- Configure the Siebel Server, and perform the postinstallation tasks.
See Configuring Siebel Enterprise Server Components and the Siebel Web Server Extension and Additional Postinstallation and Configuration Tasks.
NOTE: If you do not yet have a Siebel database, then you must install Database Configuration Utilities and a Siebel Server on the Siebel Gateway Name Server computer. Configuring and deploying this Siebel Server is optional. You must run the Database Configuration Wizard and install the Siebel database before you configure this Siebel Server or any Siebel Server. For more information, see Requirements for Siebel Gateway Name Server Authentication.
- Install the Siebel Web Server Extension.
See Installing Siebel Enterprise Server Components and the Siebel Web Server Extension.
- Configure the Siebel Web Server Extension:
- Configure the logical profile for the SWSE on the Siebel Gateway Name Server computer.
- Apply the SWSE logical profile on the Web server computer where you installed SWSE.
See Configuring Siebel Enterprise Server Components and the Siebel Web Server Extension and Additional Postinstallation and Configuration Tasks.
- (Optional) If you are using Siebel load balancing, then generate the load balancing configuration file lbconfig.txt after installing and configuring participating Siebel Servers. Place the file in the SWSE logical profile directory, and reapply the logical profile.
For more information, see Process of Configuring Load Balancing for Siebel Business Applications.
- (Optional) Install Siebel Mobile Web Clients or Developer Web Clients.
See Installing Siebel Web Clients and Siebel Tools.
- Install Siebel Tools for developers.
See Installing Siebel Web Clients and Siebel Tools.
- Verify the installation of Siebel Business Applications modules.
See Verifying and Troubleshooting Your Installation.
- (Optional) Install additional Siebel modules. See the following:
- (Optional) Install and configure additional Siebel Server instances or additional Web server and SWSE instances if they are required for your deployment.
- (Optional) Install any additional Siebel patch releases.
For example, you might install a Siebel Fix Pack release if a new one is available or you might install a Siebel Quick Fix release. In some cases, installing a particular patch release might be required. In some cases, it might be necessary or desirable to install a patch release before you perform any of the tasks using the Siebel Configuration Wizards. For more information, see the applicable Siebel Maintenance Release Guide on My Oracle Support, 880452.1 (Article ID) and any additional patch release documentation. See also About Installing Siebel Maintenance Releases
- Install any required third-party products.
See Siebel System Requirements and Supported Platforms on Oracle Technology Network. See also the Siebel Business Applications Third-Party Bookshelf in the product media pack on Oracle Software Delivery Cloud.
- (Optional) If you are deploying Siebel Self-Service Applications, then follow the instructions in Siebel Self-Service Application Deployment Guide.
- (Optional) Install Siebel Search software.
For specific guidelines and requirements about installing search software, see Siebel Search Administration Guide.
