Creating a New Project

The projects that come predefined with Siebel CRM include a structure that you can use in a typical development effort. If you find that multiple developers must access the same set of objects simultaneously, then you can create a new project. You can create new projects that group related sets of new objects or that separate existing objects into more manageable groups. For more information, see About Predefined Objects.

To create a new project

  1. Create a plan for the new project:
    1. Create an application development plan that includes a PERT chart that documents dependencies and parallel activities.
    2. Analyze the plan to determine if developers must access objects that reside in the same project at the same time. If so, create a project plan that groups objects into separate projects.

You can also enable projects for object check-in or check-out. For more information, see Using Check Out and Check In

  2. Create a new project:
    1. In the Object Explorer, click Project.
    2. In the Projects list, right-click, and then click New Record.
    3. Enter a Name for the project, and then step off the record.
    4. If necessary, create more projects to meet the requirements you identified in Step 1.

You cannot use Siebel Tools to delete a project. If you must delete a project, then you must use SQL.

Creating a Project in the Server Repository

This topic describes how to create a project in the server repository.

To create a project in the server repository

  1. Create a new project on the development server repository.
  2. Do a Get of the project to the local repository.

For more information, see Getting Projects from the Server Repository.

  3. Check out the project.
  4. Modify the new project in the local repository.
  5. To update the server repository, check in the project.
