This Sun StorageTek PCI-X SAS 8-Channel HBA Installation Guide describes how to install the Sun StorageTek trademark PCI-X Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) 8-Channel host bus adapter (HBA). This manual is intended for experienced system administrators.

Before you install and use the HBA as described in this manual, you must read and understand the following documents:

How This Book Is Organized

Chapter 1 describes the Sun StorageTek PCI-X 8-Channel SAS HBA.

Chapter 2 explains how to install the HBA, connect it to a storage device, and test it. It also includes instructions on booting from a hard disk connected to the HBA.

Chapter 3 describes driver requirements and utility software for the supported operating systems.

Appendix A contains the specifications for the Sun StorageTek PCI-X 8-Channel SAS HBA.

Appendix B contains the Declaration of Conformity, regulatory, and essential safety information.
