C Removing and Replacing a Disk Drive in a disk card

This appendix tells you how to remove and replace a disk drive on a disk card.

    1. Unpack and inspect the new drive, as described in Chapter 1.
    2. Remove the disk card in which you want to install the new disk drive, using the procedures in Appendix B.
    3. Carefully open the ejector drive retainer on the disk drive you are replacing by pushing in on the tab. See Figure C-1.

    4. Slide the old drive out, disengaging it from the connector, and place it on the antistatic mat.
    5. While holding the ejector drive retainer open, gently slide the new drive in; then close the ejector drive retainer.

As the ejector drive retainer closes, it forces the connectors together. You will feel a resistance followed by the joining of the two connectors.

    6. Reinstall the disk card using the procedures in Chapter 2.
