Setting Up Your Control Network

The control network is required for the operation of the Netra Proxy Cache product's array software.

To Set up Your Control Network

1. Obtain your Ethernet hub and an RJ-45 cable for each machine, as described in "Hardware Required".

2. On each machine in the array, connect the hme1 interface to the hub.

   See Figure 2-1, above, for an illustration of the location of the hme1 interface.

   ---

   Note -

   If you have only one machine with array software--in effect, a one-host array--and you configure the array software (as described later in this chapter) you must connect the hme1 interface to a hub, just as you would if you had multiple machines in the array. If you have a two-machine array, you can use a back-to-back RJ-45 cable, instead of a hub.
