The following topics introduce the new and changed customization and extensibility features of Oracle Fusion Applications and other significant changes that are described in this guide, and provides pointers to additional information.
Oracle Fusion Applications 11g Release 7 (11.1.7) includes the following new and changed customization and extensibility features for this document.
Customization Set Migration tool, which enables the movement of customizations and extensions from test environments to production environments. See Section 2.3.1, "Using Customization Set Migration to Move Customizations."
Flexfield enhancements:
Highlight Flexfields option on the Administration menu, which enables you to see information about the descriptive flexfields on a page and to access the Quick Create dialog to add context values, global segments, and context-sensitive segments. See Section 4.2, "Finding the Flexfields on a Page."
Show Value Description option on the Manage Contexts page in the Manage Extensible Flexfields task, which enables the display of a value description next to an extensible flexfield segment. See Task: Configure the Context in Section 4.5.2, "Configuring Extensible Flexfields."
Create Value Sets button in the Manage Descriptive Flexfields and Manage Extensible Flexfields tasks, which enables you to create a value set at the time that you create a segment. See Section 4.5, "Configuring Flexfields."
Ability to add an additional attribute to an independent, dependent, or subset value set, which can be used to capture additional information about each valid value, such as its purpose. See Task: Add Attributes to a Value Set in Section 4.4, "Creating Custom Value Sets."
Ability to use a segment value from a different context in the WHERE clause for a table value set. See Task: Create a Table Value Set in Section 4.4, "Creating Custom Value Sets."
Ability to use SQL statements to set the initial value of an extensible flexfield segment. You can also set the initial value to the value of another segment in the same extensible flexfield. See Task: Define Initial Values for Extensible Flexfield Custom Attributes in Section 4.3.2, "Planning Extensible Flexfields."
Non-deployment of extensible flexfield segments if their category is not enabled. See Section 4.7, "Deploying Flexfield Configurations."
Ability to enable flexfields for Oracle Social Network. See Section 4.8, "Integrating Custom Attributes."
Home page menu customization. See Section 5.1.2, "About Home Page Menu Configuration."
Oracle Business Intelligence Publisher customize feature, which simplifies adding custom layouts to Oracle BI Publisher reports. See Section 7.2.1.4, "Using the Customize Feature."
For 11g Release 7 (11.1.7), this guide has been updated in several ways. Following are the sections that have been added or changed.
Corrected information about what lookups are included in a customization set that is created by the Customization Set Migration dialog. Only standard lookups are migrated. See Section 2.3.1, "Using Customization Set Migration to Move Customizations."
Added steps to Section 2.3.1, "Using Customization Set Migration to Move Customizations" for enabling attachments on runtime pages in the target environment after a migration.
Moved information about Oracle Fusion CRM Application Composer to the Oracle Fusion Applications CRM Extensibility Guide.
Moved information about using design time tools to customize and extend Oracle Fusion Applications to Oracle Fusion Applications Extensibility Guide for Developers.
Revised sections throughout the book to note features and functionality that are not available in Oracle Cloud implementations.
Revised tasks in Chapter 3, "Customizing Existing Pages" to account for Design view being the only mode available for personalization.
Added instructions for setting search options for site-level search. See Task: Create a Site-Level Saved Search for All Users in Chapter 3, "Customizing Existing Pages."
Added instructions for implementing role-based page customizations using Page Composer. See "Task: Customize a Component Based on Role" in Chapter 3, "Customizing Existing Pages."
Oracle Fusion Applications 11g Release 6 (11.1.6) includes the following new and changed customization and extensibility features for this document.
Site-level saved searches, which allow you to create searches that can be used by all users. See Task: Create a Site-Level Saved Search for All Users in Chapter 3, "Customizing Existing Pages."
Custom folder seeded under Shared Folders provides a standard location to maintain your customized reports. Default permission settings are enhanced to support user interaction with the new folder. See Section 7.2.1.4, "Using the Customize Feature."
