In the Sun Server X4-2L Service Manual, the removal and installation procedures for "Servicing the Motherboard Assembly" do not include the steps for removing the storage drive cage. If the Sun Server X4-2L has a cable retaining clip on the right side of the chassis, you need to remove the storage drive cage prior to removing the motherboard assembly. Removing the storage drive cage enables the motherboard assembly to slide far enough forward to clear the single clip on the right side of the chassis, when facing the drives. You then need to replace the storage drive cage to reinstall the motherboard assembly.
