Resetting the RDC Factory Settings

Previous configuration data on the device might interfere with the new platform and software. To facilitate the best possible upgrade, return the unit to the factory settings prior to loading the new KDS software.

  1. From the RDC, click Start, click Settings, and then click Control Panel.
  2. Click the Default Settings tab.
  3. Select the Reset to Default Settings option, and then click Yes.
  4. Save the settings. The device restarts after resetting the configuration.
  5. Set the current date and time on the unit.

If the date and time on the unit do not match that of the server, the CAL software does not work properly. Typically, the property list fails to load when these values are not correct.

  6. Set the Internet Protocol (IP) address of the RDC to be a static value that works on the network. Some units cannot pick up a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) issued IP address after the upgrade.
    1. To test the network configuration, open Microsoft Internet Explorer on the RDC.
    2. Enter the URL for the Simphony Egateway service that is hosting the CAL server (for example, http://[http://:8050/egateway/egateway.asmx]). If you can access this URL, the network is ready to connect to the server.

The unit does not require Domain Name System (DNS) or Windows Internet Name Service (WINS) entries.
