About Compensation Periods

A compensation period is the interval on which your organization pays its salespeople for all sales activity during a given time frame. For example, while standard pay periods at Global Computers are biweekly, the company pays sales compensation to its representatives once a month.

Oracle General Ledger (GL) serves as the central repository for accounting information for Oracle Applications. For this reason, Oracle Sales Compensation obtains its sales compensation periods from those you define in GL.

If you have already defined your calendar and set of books in Oracle General Ledger, you need to identify this information in Oracle Sales Compensation (see Selecting the Set of Books).

If you have not yet defined your calendar and set of books in Oracle General Ledger, you must do so in Oracle Sales Compensation. Follow the instructions in Defining Your Calendar and Set of Books.
