Defining a Sales Compensation Transaction

In Oracle Sales Compensation you define the structure of a compensation transaction, or the set of information your organization needs to calculate a compensation payment (Figure 4 -2). For example, Global Computers, Inc. pays different compensation rates for different types of products, and runs sales promotions in various geographical territories. Thus, to calculate a compensation payment transaction, Global needs the following minimum set of data:

The source data for compensation transactions comes from source documents --such as invoices and cash receipts--processed by other applications, such as Oracle Receivables. Oracle Sales Compensation stores compensation transaction information in one or more database tables. You use the Tables and Columns form, and, for Oracle Receivables, the AR Mapping form to create a format that defines how to collect your transactions. See About Oracle Receivables Source Data for information about collecting Oracle Receivables transactions and Entering a Manual Transaction for information on creating manual transactions.
