Use Oracle8i Cache if you use a multiple-tier environment and your applications generate mostly read-only requests for a subset of data and they access Oracle databases. Oracle8i Cache is suited for many types of applications, such as Web-based catalogs, online reservation systems, and online news publishing services. In the middle-tier cache, Web-based catalogs can store information about each item for sale. In the middle-tier cache, online reservation systems can store information about car rentals, airline flights, and vacation packages. In the middle-tier cache, online news publishing services can store top news stories, sports scores, and stock quotes.
