Adding Suspect Details and Scheduling Follow-Up Activities


Using the Suspect screen views, the investigator can document relationships, groups and addresses associated with the individual. Investigators can also link the suspect to incidents and cases, add attachments, and develop activities to broaden the scope of the suspect file.

This task is a step in Process of Managing Investigative Cases.

To add details to a suspect record and schedule follow-up activities

  1. Navigate to the Suspects screen.
  2. In the Suspects list, query for the suspect record, and click the link in the Last Name field.
  3. From the Suspect form, click the appropriate view tab.

    The following table describes some of the views.

    Activities

    If a case requires follow up activities, use this view to create investigative tasks with alarms and assign each activity to a team member. Typical activity types are incident, arrest, diagnosis, meeting, and so on. Use the Activity Type field to further define the activity. Use the Employees field to specify each team member assigned to the activity. Selecting the Primary field for an employee record identifies the lead individual on the team.

    Addresses

    Use this view to document all known addresses for the suspect or to create a new address. Click the primary field to flag the primary address.

    Attachments

    Use this view to associate documents, images and other media with the suspect. Use the comments field to describe the attachment. The New File and New URL buttons allow users to choose the file or the URL that is added to the record.

    Cases

    Use this view to associate new cases with the suspect or review an existing case history.

    Groups

    Use this view to associate existing Group records with a suspect or create a new Group record. You can associate more than one group with a suspect.

    Incidents

    Use this view to associate one or more incidents with the suspect.

    Relationships

    Use this view to provide details on individuals who associate with the suspect.

    Notes

    Use this view to add other information to the suspect record. Select Public to make the note available to team members and Private if the note is not shared. Click Check Spelling to perform a spell check on Notes text.
