What's New in This Release

Table 1 lists changes described in this version of the documentation to support release 8.0 of the software.

Topic	Description
Installing Required IBM Fix Packs	References to Siebel-certified IBM fix packs were removed. Oracle does not certify specific IBM fix packs for use with Siebel 8.0.
Setting the DB2CONNECT_IN_APP_PROCESS Environment Variable	New topic. You must set the DB2CONNECT_IN_APP_PROCESS environment variable to NO to use DB2 Connect connection concentration, connection pooling, and connection load balancing.
PADIX Considerations	Oracle no longer recommends setting the PADIX parameter to YES. If you choose to set PADIX=NO, you must monitor the impact on your environment.
Naming Conventions for Auxiliary Objects	Amended topic. In Siebel 8.0 releases using DB2 V8, DB2 implicitly creates auxiliary objects and assigns names to them.
Understanding Siebel Partitioning	A number of topics in this chapter were amended to clarify the existing information.
Synchronizing the Repository and the Physical Schema	Amended topic. It is recommended that you issue an SQL DROP command to remove the Enterprise Integration Manager (EIM) tables from the database before synchronizing the Siebel logical and physical schemas.
About Migrating a Siebel Database to Unicode Format	This chapter has been revised; it no longer contains detailed procedural information on migrating your Siebel database to Unicode format. Contact your Oracle sales representative for the files required to migrate your database to Unicode and for detailed procedural information on the processes involved.

References to Siebel SupportWeb have been removed from the guide.

Tuning DB2 Connect by Increasing the I/O Block Size	Added information on using the DB2 Connect RQRIOBLK parameter.
DSNZPARM Parameter Settings for Siebel Applications	Revised topic. This topic describes the recommended DSNZPARM settings to use with DB2 for z/OS 8.0, New Function Mode.
About the Siebel Database Storage Configurator Partitioning Tables and Indexes Using the Database Storage Configurator	These topics describe how to use the Database Storage Configurator to modify storage control files. This information was previously described in Installing the Siebel Database on the DB2 Host.
Understanding Siebel Partitioning	The topics in this chapter have been extensively updated to describe the new DB2 for z/OS 8.0 partitioning capabilities that are supported in Siebel v8.0.
Installing the Database Configuration Utilities Files at Midtier	Deleted chapter. This information is described in Siebel Installation Guide for UNIX and Siebel Installation Guide for Microsoft Windows.
About Cursor Close	Removed all references to the PreFetchSize parameter; Siebel v8.0 ignores values specified for this parameter on z/OS.
Database Connection Pooling	Revised this topic to describe the enhancements to the Siebel connection pooling feature.
About Migrating a Siebel Database to Unicode Format	New chapter. Unicode support on z/OS is a new feature in Siebel v8.0.

- Database Configuration Wizard replaces Database Server Configuration Utility
- Database Configuration Utilities replaces Siebel Database Server
Changes were made throughout the guide to reflect improvements to the Database Configuration Wizard.
