Local Database and File System

A local database is a database that resides on the remote client. This database contains Siebel application tables that store user data and a local transaction log that stores transactions that the user creates. Siebel Remote copies these transactions to the Siebel Server when the remote client synchronizes.

File Handling for the Remote Client

To store files, the remote client uses a local Siebel File System. The Siebel Server retrieves the files from the Siebel File System and sends them to the local Siebel File System. These files are available when the user disconnects from the Siebel Server. During synchronization, Siebel Remote uploads to the Siebel Server any files that the user adds to the local Siebel File System while disconnected, and then the Siebel Server sends these files to the Siebel File System. The user can request specific files to download to the local file system during synchronization. You can specify the files that Siebel Remote publishes or distributes to users.
