Media Contents

The Siebel products are provided on media that include base, encryption, and Language Extension Pack (LEP) files. Base or encryption media require one or more Language Packs for successful installation.

While installation of base and LEP media are required, the use of encryption media is optional.

Base Media

The base media for Siebel products include files distributed on multiple DVDs or compressed files obtained using FTP. The DVD or FTP files are divided by platform, product category, and product name. Language support is delivered separately through LEP media. Media platforms consist of the following:

  • Windows
  • HP-UX
  • AIX
  • Solaris

Encryption or Add-On Media

This media includes one DVD or multiple compressed FTP files that may be required for base products.

The media provides encryption support for server and client products, and is installed following installation of the base product.

NOTE:  Encryption and add-on media is available only in the U.S., due to export restrictions, and can be used with any language supported by Siebel Systems. These files also can be installed on the client.

Language Pack Media

DVDs supporting a number of languages are available, with one DVD used to install each language. These Language Packs are also available as multiple FTP compressed files, which, when recombined, provide equivalent features to the DVD media.

NOTE:  For Siebel Industry Applications, the Windows and UNIX Language Packs are on different DVDs.

Ancillary Media

Ancillary components often support multiple languages on the same media.

NOTE:  Ancillary components used with Siebel applications, such as Siebel Reports Server, cannot be copied using the Siebel Network Image Creator and must be copied directly to a separate network location.
