Configuring Send Behavior for One-Way Wireless Messaging Workflows
This section describes how you can configure the send behavior for the one-way workflows listed in Table 72.
By default, mobile alerts are sent to the highest priority address of the user's highest priority device. To configure workflows to automatically send wireless messages only to message recipients who have requested to receive these mobile alerts using the Mobile screen, set the SendIfNoUserPref parameter of the predefined workflow actions to FALSE. In the Mobile screen, users can override the setting of this parameter to customize how mobile alerts are sent.
NOTE: The Mobile screen for end users is available only with Siebel Wireless Messaging or the Siebel Wireless application. For more information, see Specifying Mobile Device Settings.
- SendIfNoUserPref = TRUE. If SendIfNoUserPref is set to TRUE for a workflow action (the default), alerts are sent to the highest priority address of the user's highest priority device, without the intended recipient specifically enabling that alert.
However, Siebel Workflow Policies checks for an On or Off setting in the ENABLED_CD column of the S_MBL_ALERT table, for this alert and this device. (An On or Off setting is created when a particular user sets the status for a specific alert on a specific device, in the Mobile screen.)
- If an alert is On for a particular device for a user, this alert will be sent to the highest priority address defined for the associated device. Device priorities defined by the user or administrator are ignored.
- If an alert is Off for a particular device for a user, this alert will not be sent to any device for this user, unless the same alert is On for a different device. Device priorities are ignored.
- SendIfNoUserPref = FALSE. If SendIfNoUserPref is set to FALSE for a particular workflow action, Siebel Workflow Policies also checks for an On or Off setting for this alert and this device.
- If an alert is On for a particular device for a user, this alert will be sent to the highest priority address defined for the associated device. Device priorities defined by the user or administrator are ignored.
- Generally, an alert should not be set to Off if SendIfNoUserPref is FALSE.
The operation of the SendIfNoUserPref parameter for a given workflow-based alert is outlined in Table 73.
