Associating Territories with a Sales Hierarchy Version
You can associate a territory with the new sales hierarchy version, using the Sales Hierarchy Administration Explorer.
To associate a territory with a Sales Hierarchy Version
- From the application-level menu, choose View > Site Map > Incentive Compensation Sales Hierarchies Administration > Sales Hierarchy Admin Explorer.
- Expand the new Sales Hierarchy, and then click the Sales Hierarchy Versions folder.
- Expand the Sales Hierarchy Versions folder, and then select the Territories folder.
- In the Territories list, click New.
Records created in the Territory folder reference the actual territory. A territory can be referenced many times in a sales hierarchy version, or in more than one sales hierarchy versions.
- In the new territory record, click the select button in the Territory field.
- In the Territories dialog box, select a territory and click OK.
If the territory you wanted does not exist yet, you can create it by clicking New.
Repeat Step 4 through Step 6 to select additional territories at the current level in the sales hierarchy version.
- In the Explorer, expand the new Territory, and then create the next-level territory in the sales hierarchy version.
Repeat this step to create territories for each subsequent level of the hierarchy version. This method builds the sales hierarchy version in a top-down fashion.
Organizing Hierarchy Structure in a Hierarchy Version
You can also perform the following best practices procedure to build your sales hierarchy.
To build multiple territories into a hierarchy version
- From the application-level menu, choose View > Site Map > Incentive Compensation Sales Hierarchies Administration > Sales Hierarchy Admin Explorer.
- In the Explorer, expand the Sales Hierarchy folder.
- Expand the Sales Hierarchy Versions folder, and then click the Territories folder.
- Select each territory, and then choose the correct parent territory value.
The figure that follows shows the Parent territory field in the Territory record.
NOTE: To refresh the new sales hierarchy structure in the Explorer view, collapse and then expand the Sales Hierarchy Version folder.
